Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 3 months old

My dog has been fine all day. High energy and happy. My husband went to play fetch with her and she suddenly didnt want to. Now she is having trouble getting up and walking. She isnt whinning, but you can tell she is having difficulty. She is currently sleeping and seems to want to stay on her bed. Nothing abnormal happened today. She did chew up one of pur kids plastic blocks.

Based on what you are describing I would be concerned that Lexi either injured herself while playing ball outside or has some G.I. upset from ingesting a plastic block. I would keep an eye on her tonight and see if she’s interested in eating her dinner. If she still lethargic and not acting like herself in the morning you may want to consider taking her to the vet to be examined. If she has an intestinal blockage she will need to be monitored closely with X-rays to determine if surgery is required to have it removed. If she has injured her self she may need some anti-inflammatory medication to help get her feeling better again. I hope this helps. Thanks For using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
