My cat has a sore on her back where a lump was. What should I do?

My cat sometimes gets a hard lump on her back but now there's a sore where the lump usually is. I just noticed it a few days ago and it seems to be about the same, I'm just worried because she keeps picking at it. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

As with any lump, it is difficult to say what the lump is without further testing such as a needle aspiration or biopsy. A needle aspiration is where the vet will insert a small needle into the mass and look at the cells under a microscope to help determine what it could be.
