How often should I feed my yellow-footed tortoise? Is biting normal?

Hello, my dad rescued a turtle years ago, i assume its ayellow footed tortoise from what i have investigated. im not sure how often i should feed him?, every day or every other day? and if its common of him to bite so hard, he will try to catch you every time and bite you very hard, i dont know if this is normal. He also eats birds but catches them himself, no one really knows how, please help me getting this solved! thanks !

You can feed him daily. They are omnivorous and will eat plants as well as proteins (in the form of insects or small mammals). There is likely nothing you can do to stop his bird hunting ways.
