Why is my active kitten pooping less after lots of exercise?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ocicat | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 17 days old | 8 lbs

I wanted to know if the amount of exercise he has been getting has affected him in any way he's been recently running about the yard because he's big enough to protect himself against other animals his bowels usually move every 2 hours hes I stayed up watching him last night and he only went once

Hello, and thank you for your question. Kittens are naturally very active animals, and this activity should not affect his bowel movements. Typically cats and kittens pass a bowel movement once or twice a day, so I would not worry about the fact that he only went once last night. Sometimes overly frequent stools can be related to parasites, infection, or food allergies. Have Oliver's bowel movements been solid and well formed? If not, I would recommend taking him to the vet to be dewormed and to check a stool sample for parasites. I hope this helps, and that Oliver is otherwise happy and healthy!
