Is my cat choking or coughing after drinking water? What's wrong?

my cat coughs/chokes after drinking water. He came into contact with baby powder 6 months ago...is this why?

The baby powder size months ago likely doesn’t have anything to do with Leo’s choking episodes now, especially if they just started. Choking after drinking water can indicate that he is drinking too fast, or there is a smal chance he could have a laryngeal issue (i.e. laryngeal paralysis); however this condition usually causes the pet to have a continuous cough, even when not drinking water. At any rate, if the coughing does become continuous then it’s best to get Leo seen by your vet right away. If the cough is strictly isolated to drinking water, then I would recommend a water fountain to perhaps slow him down and prevent him from choking. Otherwise he should be fine. I hope this helps.
