I am so sorry Loki is having this issue. This can be a urinary tract infection but it can also be a bladder stone issue, a prostate issue or even a kidney issue. With his age I suspect more of a urinary tract infection. The good thing is he can urinate. I would recommend calling your veterinarian in the morning and making an appointment. I then would try to collect a urine sample to bring to the veterinarian. That way they can test the urine to see if there is a urinary tract infection. Your veterinarian may want to perform an X-ray to rule out bladder stones also. The time this becomes a life threatening emergency is when they try to urinate and they absolutely cannot. At that point I recommend taking them to an emergency veterinarian. Since he urinated now it is ok to wait until the morning. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

I would recommend taking Deacon to a veterinarian. It could be a few different things. He could have something like a urinary tract infection going on and the veterinarian just needs a urinalysis for diagnosis and he would need antibiotics for treatment. It could also be bladder stones. This would require surgery to remove and X-rays to diagnose. He could also be having a prostatic infection or issue since he is not neutered. This the veterinarian can see if the prostate is enlarge on rectal but Deacon may need an X-ray or ultrasound. They may also need to look at a cytology of his urine. The other thing it can be is a bladder mass which would need an ultrasound to diagnose. I hope Deacon feels better soon and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
