i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF GIVING THYME IS GOOD FOR MY KITTEN? HE HAS A UPPER RESPIRATORY UNFECTION AND i WAS TOLD THYME WAS GOOD FOR MY KITTENS?

Unfortunately no, thyme has no effect on cats with respiratory infections and I do not recommend giving it to Bootsie. That being said, there are a few things you can do at home for him and I also recommend a visit to the vet. He may benefit from medications to help with his symptoms, which the vet can prescribe. As for the home remedies, first, you can try starting him on an L-lysine supplement - this is an amino acid that has been shown to help the immune system fight off respiratory infections more effectively. Enisyl and Viralys are both good brands, and can be purchased over the counter without a prescription - just follow the dosing instructions on the label based on your cat's weight. If he's congested, you can also try using a humidifier or bringing him into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections. What can I give my kitten for her upper respitory problem she's having a hard time breathin
Hello. The only thing you can do at home is steam therapy. Sitting for 10 minutes or so with Ewakee2 in a hot steamy bathroom 2-3 times a day may help. It dose sound like she may need medications to help resolve this, but you can only get this from your veterinarian after a full examination. I'm very sorry your kitty is sick. Respiratory infections are very common in kitties and almost all are caused by a virus, not a bacterial infection. Therefore, we do not recommend antibiotics if we are dealing with an upper respiratory infection. There are several things you can do at home though. To help with nasal and sinus congestion symptoms, I recommend using the shower to fill your bathroom with as much warm steamed air as possible and then place your kitty in the room for 10-15 minutes at a time. You can do this several times a day, the goal is to help humidify the air and allow your kitty's nasal passages to drain and clear some. You can also purchase over-the-counter treats or a gel formula containing the amino acid supplement L-lysine made for cats. These can sometimes help clear a viral infection. Follow the label instructions to know how much and how often to give to your kitty. If your kitty stops eating or drinking, you will need to have it examined by your veterina

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Mimi. L-lysine is an amino acid supplement that may help with herpes virus infections in cats. Feline herpes tends to be exhibited as an upper respiratory tract infection with possible eye problems as well. It has been debated in current research as to whether it is effective or not. However, I have had some patients benefit from it. If it does not help, it will not be harmful to your kitten. I hope this information helps!

If Don is refusing food, feverish or unwell he will need to be seen by a vet and assessed for treatment which may include antibiotics or antiviral medications. Otherwise maintaining hydration with water, fresh boiled chicken broth and pedialyte can help as can steam therapy in a shower room (adding vicks/olbas oil can help to loosen secretions if very thick).
