How often can I give my dog eggs as a treat? Are they safe daily?

I have 4 yrs indian spitz and his wt is around 28 pounds. On daily basis..how many eggs should i give to him.?????

Eggs are fine as an occasional treat, but it's not something that Andy should get daily. The only food that a dog needs is a high quality dog food, which will provide him all the nutrients he needs to be healthy. Adding additional food on top of that will lead to extra calories and weight gain. Weight gain leads to obesity, which in turn leads to its own health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and joint problems. It would be fine to give him a boiled egg (no shell) once or twice a week as a treat. You can also give him a scrambled egg, but make sure it's egg only and no seasonings etc. Good luck, I hope this helps!

You can give a BOILED egg as a treat once in a while. However, if you feed a complete puppy food for large sized dogs, you do not need to feed any eggs. Do not feed raw eggs as this will cause health problems (they contain avidine which causes biotin deficiency which in turn causes problems with your dog's nails and fur.

Hello. It is very safe to give a boiled egg daily to Bruno. Eggs are just as good for dogs as they are for people. I doubt that 1 egg will increase his weight significantly & dietary cholesterol is not a significant source of this compound. Most cholesterol is manufactured in the liver so a daily egg will never hurt anyone. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! You could do it perhaps a few times a week but without the shell. I would avoid doing it longterm on a daily basis as it does contain a large amount of cholesterol. Good luck!

No, you should not do that as it would alter the nutritional composition of your dog's food. You should feed a good quality complete puppy food for large dogs. This would be proper food that provides your dog with everything he needs. You can give a boiled egg once in a while as a treat but not as a regular supplement with his feed.

The yolk is fatty however, so you need to watch how many calories of dog food you are feeding so Peanut doesn’t become overweight. You can give Jerry the whole boiled egg, just make sure there is no shell. He can have it as an occasional treat, no more than one once or twice a week. The majority of his diet should be his puppy food.

It will likely fill him up and he will eat less dog food. It could also lead to unnecessary weight gain. His puppy food is appropriately formulated for his growth and development. Dogs are not prone to heart diseases like humans, so it is safe to give an egg once a day, even if Bruno is going out only once a day (although he should get out at least 2 times a day for 30 minutes each time for various other reasons).

Yes, but it is not good to feed it raw. Raw eggs can carry salmonella bacteria which can make him very sick and he can even die from it. Raw eggs also contain an enzyme that hinders absorption of vitamin B. It is better to feed eggs scrambled or hard boiled. Great question! Domino should be fed twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. He can have plain scrambled eggs (no salt, pepper, seasoning, milk, butter, cheese, etc) as a treat once or twice a week at most. I would only give him one scrambled egg at a time.
