Why does my dog have a persistent rash on his chin or mouth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 9 months old | 47 lbs

My dog has this weird rash on the bottom of his mouth. He doesn't have it anywhere else. It's been there for about a month now. I thought it was just an irritation to something he came in contact with hiking or at the park but it isn't going away.

It may be an allergy or an infection in the hair follicle. Make sure you are using stainless steel bowls and wash them daily. Keep the area clean with soap and water or use clearsil wipes in the area. You can apply cortisone cream to help and if this does. It show improvement then I would have a vet check the area
