My husky has purple, clumpy stool. Is it serious if he's fine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 3 months old | 34 lbs

My 3 year old husky had had runny stool then just soft stool the last 2 days. I was giving him children's pepto as I have been instructed to do before. ( he tends to have this often as he eats stuff in the yard). However this morning he only passed a small amount of what looks like purple clumpy mucus (almost like jam). He is otherwise fine eating drinking and playing. No vomiting or other symptoms. I can not take him to the vet at the moment due to being out of work last week. I'm worried.

I am sorry Fang is having this issue. If this was a one time thing I would say monitor him and do a bland diet (boiled chicken and white rice). If he is still having issues then I do recommend having him see a veterinarian. They can prescribe medication to make Fang feel much better. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I hope Fang feels much better soon.
