My unvaccinated puppy played with a street dog. What should I do?

My Puppy is 75 days old and not has not taken vaccine yet.I have noticed that he was playing with a street dog 10 days ago.my questions are 1)what vaccine you recommend for my pet?? 2) I m afraid of rabies for my pet, what should i do for my pet in this condition when i noticed he was playing with street dog for sometime.

Zeemy is so cute! He needs his DHPPi (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza) vaccine first. He will require two boosters of it given four weeks apart each before he is fully vaccinated. He will not be old enough for a rabies vaccine until he is 12 weeks of age. He can get the rabies vaccine then, and will need a booster of it four weeks after the first to get full immunity. Do not allow him to play with any street dogs or any other strange dogs. Besides rabies, he can also contract deadly diseases like parvo and distemper. He should be kept from all other dogs until he is fully vaccinated. Keep an eye on him for signs of disease including vomiting, diarrhea, blood in the diarrhea, anorexia, lethargy, high fever, reddened eyes, persistent coughing, nasal and eye discharge, sudden changes in behavior, and seizures to name a few. If you see any of those signs, take Zeemy into a vet immediately. I would make an appointment to get his vaccines started asap. Good luck, I hope this helps!

When you are discussing vaccinations I am assuming you are referring to the distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza combination vaccine (DAPP). If Theodore is only about 6 weeks old he will need at least 3-4 more DAPP vaccines spaced approximately one month apart to be fully protected against distemper. Because Theodore will be at risk until he receives all of his distemper booster shots it is best to minimize his risk by not taking him to places where sick dogs may have been. So avoiding dog parks, pet stores, and kennels is a good idea. I would recommend starting veterinary visits for Theodore around 8 weeks of age so he can be examined and another DAPP vaccine can be given. Please remember to bring a fecal sample with you to the vet visit so he can be checked for intestinal parasites. Thanks for using Boop by Petco and good luck with Theodore!

Hello my doberman puppy is 40 days old so what all vaccine i should give and at what age and anti rabies when should i be giving her?
Great question! At 40 days of age, Daisy is just over 5.5 weeks old, so she is not old enough for her first vaccines. Puppies should be at least 6-8 weeks of age, and I would wait at least another 4 days before giving her the first vaccine. She will need a DHPPi, which protects again distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza. She will need three series of the DHPPi vaccines each given four weeks apart. The schedule would be: 1st shot at 6 weeks of age, 2nd shot at 10 weeks of age, and final shot at 14 weeks of age. In terms of rabies, that should not be given until she is 12 weeks old, and she will need two of the rabies vaccine given four weeks apart. She should therefore get the first rabies vaccine at 12 weeks of age and the second at 16 weeks of age. She will need a booster of both DHPPi and rabies at a year old. The vet can discuss the schedule of boosters after that with you. I hope this helps!

DAPP (distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza) vaccines or equivalents are typically given every 3-4 weeks from 6-8 weeks of age until at least 16 weeks of age. A rabies vaccine and some optional vaccines will likely be given during these booster vaccine appointments. Your puppy will not be fully protected by these vaccines until 2-3 weeks after the last vaccine - generally around 18-19 weeks of age. Try to keep your puppy away from other unknown dogs until 2-3 weeks after his last vaccine (aside from housemate dogs or even adult dogs owned by family/friends that you can confirm are up to date on all of their vaccines). Some of these viruses can remain in the soil for years, so your puppy could even be at risk walking around your neighborhood if another dog has previously shed parvovirus, for example. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I know you are worried but most likely Sam is fine! They get most of the contagious disease form direct contact with a sick dog or by eating infected stool. Just walking your dog doesn't necessarily put them at risk. Keep up with his DHPP vaccine every 3-4 weeks until he has had two past 12 weeks of age. Signs to look out for are: vomiting, diarrhea, not eating, lethargy. I wish you the best

He will not be fully vaccinated until he's received two rounds of vaccines 3-4 weeks apart after 12 weeks of age. He will also need to have a rabies vaccine (which must be given by a veterinarian) between 12 and 16 weeks of age. Bring your shot records to that appointment to make sure there aren't other diseases Gizmo needs to be vaccinated for that aren't covered in your combos. Several rounds of deworming and fecal testing is also very important for puppies. Finally, by doing vaccines on your own, you're taking some risk of that vaccines not being fully effective if they weren't kept cold while being delivered or on your way home from the store. Boarding families, airlines, and customs may also not recognize Gizmo has up to date on vaccines.

Yes, you can get Rambo his rabies injection now. He will need two series of the rabies vaccine each given four weeks apart to provide immunity against rabies. He will need an additional vaccine booster a year later to keep his immunity. The vet can go over his vaccine schedule after that. He should also get a DHPPi (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza) vaccines. Again he will need two series of this vaccine given four weeks apart to be fully immunized. He will need a booster of it in a year to keep his immunity. I'd schedule an appointment with the vet for him as soon as possible. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

The rabies vaccine cannot be given until 12 to 16 weeks of age, so he is not yet old enough to receive this. The other recommended vaccines would be to continue the Distemper-Parvo combination vaccination every 3 to 4 weeks until 16 to 18 weeks of age, and depending on your dog's lifestyle we would also consider a Leptosporosis and Bordetella vaccines. I would recommend making an appointment for Sky to visit the vet and they can discuss his lifestyle plans and determine which vaccines he will require.

No, this doesn't sound like a complete vaccination plan. Puppies need to have a DHPP booster every 3-4 weeks until they are 16 weeks or older to be considered fully vaccinated - if you stop vaccinating at 10 weeks, your pup will still be at risk for contracting serious illnesses like parvo and distemper. 10 weeks is also very early to give the rabies vaccine. In the United States, puppies have to be at least 12 weeks by law to receive this vaccine, and it's more common to do it at 4-6 months of age. I don't know the regulations in India, but I would be concerned that the pup's immune system is not mature enough at 10 weeks for the rabies vaccination to be effective. I would suggest getting a second opinion on Kiko's vaccination from another clinic in your area, if possible.

All dogs should have at least a rabies vaccine and distemper/parvovirus (DHPP) combination vaccine. If your dog has never had vaccines, he will need to be boosted with the distemper/parvovirus combination in 3-4 weeks. The rabies vaccine he gets will be a 1 year vaccine and next year he can get a 3 year booster. If there is a Petco/Vetco near you, then you can have him vaccinated there. Is getting my puppy his vaccination two days before his 12 week dangerous?
It's great that you want to get Miko up to date on his vaccines! There is usually a little leeway between booster vaccines, but if you are talking about his Rabies vaccine then taking him in early may not be possible due to state laws regarding timing of Rabies vaccine administration. He will likely need boosters every 3-4 weeks until he reaches 16-20 weeks. He will then probably need vaccines again a year later. Vaccines that he will likely need include Canine Distemper Virus, Adenovirus-2, Parvovirus , Parainfluenza Virus and Leptospira (often administered in a combination vaccine called DAPPL to reduce the number of injections), Rabies, and Bordetella bronchiseptica (often called the "kennel cough" vaccine). Your vet may also recommend the Lyme and Canine Influenza vaccines, based on your location and Miko's lifestyle.
