What's the deworming schedule for a nursing mother dog losing weight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 27 lbs

My vet told me to deworm puppies at 2week,4week and every 2 weeks until they are 3 month and then regularly after one month upto 6 month. I forgot to ask about how should I deworm the mother dog. Please can you provide the shecdule for mother dog because she was not dewormed before or after pregnancy and delivery. She is loosing her weight and is very skinny. I feed her 3 times a day. Worms are eating her food. Please provide a perfect shecdule like the vet have provided me for the puppies.

Great question! Tofy should be dewormed now, then again in two weeks, and a third treatment two weeks after that. This will ensure all the worms are killed. After that, she should be dewormed every three months. When the puppies reach six months of age, they should also be dewormed every three months. I would also feed her a puppy formulated food while she is nursing her puppies. That will give her extra calories, calcium, and protein to support nursing them. Once the puppies are weaned, she can go back onto an adult dog food. Good luck, I hope this helps!
