Obviously they are made by the same company (Purina), but Purina ProPlan is the high quality food. It has more nutrients and contains more real meats that Purina One. Purina is a good brand of food, so it's fine to feed either, but give Mac the ProPlan if you want a higher quality food and more real meat in the food. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Purina Proplan is one of the three highest quality foods I recommend to clients. The other two are Royal Canin and Hills. They follow veterinary nutritionist guidelines and current evidence based research. Gluten intolerance is extremely rare in pets and gluten content has no bearing on a food's quality. It is also important to not overfeed protein as it can harm the kidneys, so foods with higher meat content may not be better. I hope this helps.

So I asked a question about dog food not long ago and a vet here said that Vets usually recommend foods like Hills and Purina because big companies have medical and nutrition specialists on staff. Purina is pretty big and if their foods are checked,
Foods made by Purina are good, but ones like ProPlan have higher quality ingredients than say Alpo or Beneful. In my opinion, Purina is the best of the supermarket brands, so getting a food made by Purina whether it be Purina One or Beneful is fine. I hope this helps!

Is special kitty brand kitten food a good food? Also is the adult indoor formula a good food?
Kittens need food formulated for kittens and they should eat it until they are about 10 months of age. After that you can switch the adult formula. How is meo dry food for kitten?
I suspect this is more of a mid grade food. The better foods would be Royal Canin or Purina Proplan. Hello I just rescued 6 kittens who I'm guessing are 5 weeks old I've been feeding them canned kitten food but someone had told me to put a bowl of dry food out for them as well all I could find in our small town was Purina one normal cat food is this
How lovely of you to rescue these kittens! Yes, Purina is a fine brand to feed them, but it does need to be a kitten formulated food to meet their nutritional needs. If you can't find that, I would feed them the wet food until you can get out to find some dry kitten food. I hope this helps :-)

Is purina pro plan kidney function advanced care canned diet as good a prescription kidney diet as royal Canin and hills canned kidney diets? Purina seems to be the one my cat prefers most. Thanks!

Which is best? Wellness, Purina Pro, Hills. or Canidae? I know Purina Pro is recommended a lot on here but the amount of controversial ingredients listed is huge compared to Canidae or Wellness.
There really isn't controversy about Purina's ingredients. They are excellent. They have veterinary nutritionists on staff to make sure the food is good. Canada and Wellness do not have veterinary nutritionists on their staff. I would go for Purina ProPlan, but Hill's is equally as good (they also have veterinary nutritionists on staff). Is it ok to feed my 3 female cats 2 different brands of wet food? They like purina pro plan but i worry since it contains wheat gluten. They also like Natures Instinct but its out of my budget now to buy this for a whole weeks worth. Thank you.
Yes, it is absolutely fine to feed your cats a mix of two foods! Purina ProPlan is a high quality diet and wheat gluten is not a cause for concern. If you decide to mix the two foods together, try to be consistent by always mixing them rather than switching back and forth. Sudden diet changes back and forth can cause vomiting and diarrhea in some cats.

I am going to switch my puppy to Purina pro plan savor puppy food is it a good food for him?
Congrats on your new puppy! Any of the Purina Pro-plan foods are good and they meet WSAVA guidelines for good nutrition. Just make sure to change your puppy slowly to the new food by adding a little bit more of it each day and a little less of the old food.
