Is daily dog park play safe for my dogs? How much is too much?

What is considered "a lot of time" around other dogs? I just took my 2 dogs to a dog park with about 6 other dogs. How many times is a lot?

As long as your dogs are fully vaccinated, there's no problem with them being around other dogs. You can take your dogs to visit the dog park daily if you'd like, I'm sure they would enjoy running around and playing with different dogs. I hope this helps!

I think at this time it is fine to take him to a dog park, however I am with your vet and believe that it is a good idea to get another round of vaccinations. Unfortunately breeders are notorious for getting their vaccines from feed stores or other unreliable sources where one cannot be sure that the vaccine was kept refrigerated continuously. This may have rendered the given vaccine uneffective unbeknownst to the breeder. While there is likely a basic protection after three proper vaccine rounds (by your vet), I am never comfortable with taking a dog of any age to a dog park, as dogs can pick up all sorts of diseases (including worms and other parasites) in a dog park environment. My recommendation is to take your dog to other outdoor spaces, where theree is not such a high concentration of dogs.

Yes, as long as the other dog is fully vaccinated this should not be a problem. If the other dog is around dog parks or goes to boarding facilities, then I would try and distance the two dogs while they are in the same household. Hello. There is very little danger of your new puppy contracting anything from the older one ( & visa versa ). The problem is with what is infectious & dangerous out in the world, so keep your little one at home, no parks, playdates or trips to the pet superstores until he has received the full series of vaccinations around 4 months of age. I have a 12 week old puppy who has had 4/5 parvo vaccines. His next one is in two weeks. Can I have my friend’s fully vaccinated dog over to play? My concern is that I know her dog goes to dog parks and plays with other dogs.
Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. To be on the safe side, I would wait until your puppy is fully vaccinated. Murph probably developed majority of the immunity already, put parvo is too dangerous disease to take the risk.

Yes, it's fine to walk your puppy around your neighborhood, and to let him be around healthy, vaccinated dogs. Just avoid high-risk areas where lots of strange dogs tend to be, like dog parks and pet stores, until he's finished with his vaccination series :)

Hi! We just picked up a puppy from a breeder yesterday. He's 5 months old and has had 3 rounds of canine distemper adenovirus type 2 parainfluenza vaccine. Is he safe to be around other dogs? Thanks!
Yes - as long as his most recent booster was given at four months of age or older, he should be considered fully vaccinated. He will need a rabies vaccine from your veterinarian when you get a chance to have this done, but in the meantime it should be fine for him to be around other dogs. Congrats on your new puppy! :)

Can I take out my puppy out to the park after his 2nd vaccination?
I would wait a few days after the second vaccination to take her out. However I would wait until a few days after the third vaccination before going to a dog park. The body needs time to make antibodies, and that happens in the days after a vaccination.

As long as Dallas is healthy, it should be fine for Phoenix and Dallas to interact with supervision. My puppy is now 4 months old and has yet to get her last set of shots, I let her play in the back yard with my other dog who is a year old and parvo free with all his shots. Is what I'm doing wrong or dangerous for my dog?
As long as Lola is only playing in your own yard with your other dog the risk for parvovirus infection is low. I would still recommend avoiding places like dog parks where you can't be sure of the health status of other dogs. If your yard has not had any dogs in it who were parvovirus positive in the last year you should be safe. Thanks for using Boop by Petco!
