Why is my cat lethargic, shivering, and has visible third eyelids?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 7 months old

My cat has been lying down a lot since yesterday and sleeping most of the day. She eats and uses the litter box regularly, but I noticed she started shivering a bit while she lay down and her third eyelids are visible at the very corner and has watery eyes. It's been cold so she hides under a blanket while she sleeps, she recently had treatment for bladder stones but there are no pain signs when I touch her belly. Could she have a fever or a cold?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. She may be dehydrated with her third eyelid becoming more apparent. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine and have her blood tested to see if there are any explanations on blood work for her behavior. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
