My dog in heat has warm groin and severe constipation. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chow Chow | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 9 days old

my chowhow is now 7months and her 1st time to be on “heat”. Now, i would like to know if: 1.Is it normal that her groin area is feeling warm than usual? 2. that she is experiencing constipation? Bec normally she would defecate everyday with exerting to much effort. However, we observed that recently while on heat she os really constipated and exerts a lot of effort during defecation. And now, it will take her 2-3days to poop.

No, this degree of constipation is never normal. I strongly recommend a full vet check urgently - she may have an obstruction of prolapse which could become very difficult to treat due to stretching of muscles and nerves if not addressed in time
