Why is my dog walking gingerly with a black spot on her bottom?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 9 years and 5 months old | 9 lbs

Hi my poodle mix is walking gingerly. Like her bottom hurts. I checked her it I found a black spot. On one side. I touched other side she was fine. Seems tender when I touch spot. Please help me. Thank you Karrey

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Scribbles! Without seeing a picture of the black spot I can't say for sure. It is more likely that the black spot itself doesn't hurt but the underlying soft tissues or muscles hurt. Unless the black spot is a bruise. Possible causes are: muscle strain/sprain, back pain from a disk, lyme disease, anal gland issue, constipation. Since the weekend is approaching and Scribbles is uncomfortable I would make an appointment to have her looked at by your Vet. I hope this helps and I wish Scribbles the very best!
