My dog's head veins bulging a week after possum attack. Infected?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 5 months old | 68 lbs

My dog was attacked by a possum .. I did take him to the vet and they gave me antibiotics and pain meds for him but it’s been a week since the attack and his veins are bulging out on top of his head. Is this a sign that he has been infected?

This could be a sign of infection, but it's difficult to say for sure without seeing it. Usually an infection is also swollen, red, warm to the touch and may have some pus discharge from it. If it fits that description or you are otherwise concerned, then it would be best to have Gotti rechecked by your vet. I hope that helps and Gotti gets better soon.
