My dog threw up a sock. Should I take her to the vet for more objects?

Oh no, poor Chloe! If she vomited up a sock and glove, I would be concerned there are other things in her stomach causing her to vomit. The best thing to do is take her into a vet immediately for an exam and x-rays. If she does have other foreign objects in her stomach or intestines, they may need to be removed surgically. The vet can also give her a shot to stop the vomiting. Please take her into a vet now, good luck!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I am sorry to hear Shiro isn't feeling well. Regardless of eating the sock or not, he is still vomiting, so I would recommend taking him to a vet right away. He is young and a lot of vomiting can cause dehydration that puppies cannot recover from on their own. The vet may want to check for intestinal parasites and parvo virus (common causes of vomiting in puppies) and may also take an x-ray to look for a foreign object in the intestinal tract. If no cause for vomiting is found, the doctor can treat the vomiting and replace the fluids Shiro has lost so he doesn't get sicker. If a cause for the vomiting is found, the doctor will discuss the next best steps for Shiro. Good luck and kisses to Shiro!

My dog got agold of a towel and riped it apart and ate it we think she has been vomiting today but still will eat but vomits an hour or so later. Should we take her in or will this pass. She seems to be less interested in food and water this evening.
She could have an intestinal obstruction or possibly just an upset stomach. She should be examined by a vet to determine if she has an obstruction and your vet can take an abdominal x-ray to evaluate. She would need surgery to remove the towel, if an obstruction is found. If your vet does not see evidence of an obstruction than he/she can prescribe medications to help treat the vomiting.

Dog ate a sock last week. Threw up the entire sock 2 days later. Acting normal. Eating drinking peeing pooping. No vomiting for 2 days. Day 3 sent to doggy daycare and he threw up 3 times. Came home and no more vomiting. Again eating drinking peeing
He could have gastritis from the sock irritating the stomach, But I worry that he may have something else in his stomach or intestinal tract that is causing the vomiting. If he vomits tomorrow morning then I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian. They will likely recommend an X-ray to look for an object/ obstruction. Poor Rocko! From your description, I would be very concerned that he may still have part of the sock, or some other foreign object, stuck in his stomach or intestines. This problem generally causes repeated episodes of vomiting, loss of appetite, and lethargy. Unfortunately, if he does have an intestinal blockage, this is a life-threatening problem that needs emergency surgery - there is nothing you can do at home to treat it. So I would focus on finding a way to get him in to see a vet as soon as possible. My dog chews and sometimes swallows socks is it going to cause any damage to her tummy?
My biggest concern is that these socks and the material from socks can cause a life threatening foreign body obstruction. I would try your best to pick up all of the sock and material that she likes to chew to prevent this from happening. If you ever think she has swallowed a sock and she isn't showing any signs of sickness, I would feed her a high fiber canned diet for 2-3 days until it passes. If she swallows it and you see it happen, I would take her to your vet so they can make her throw it up. If she is ever showing signs of sickness like vomiting, lethargy, or not wanting to eat, I would have your vet take a look at her. Be sure to tell your vet that she has a history of eating things she shouldn't like socks so they can take x-rays if needed. I hope this helps!

Socks or pieces of it could potentially pass through the intestine even though in some cases they can cause partial or complete obstruction of the gastrointestinal system. I think at this stage from what you are describing you have still the option to wait and monitor them. I would recommend to take them for a check up at the first sign of lethargy, inappetence, persistent and continuous vomiting. You could add some mineral oil to the diet (10mls every meal) and give a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice until the sock is out.

I am sorry to hear about Chloe! Vomiting can occur for a multitude of reasons. These can range from things like eating a new dog food or table scraps, to ingestion of a foreign object like a sock or toy causing obstruction, to gastritis or stomach ulcers, infections, systemic disease, and more. If Chloe just vomited one time and seems back to normal now, I would not be too concerned and would just monitor her for the next 24 hours. If however she is still vomiting, if she seems weak, if she seems painful in the abdomen, if there is blood in the vomit, or if she stops eating she should be examined by her vet. My dog has been regurgitating and having diarrhea for a few hours. He threw up what looked like a sock a while ago but still continues to have liquid diarrhea. Very concerned and wondering if I should take him to a vet now!

My dog ate parts of a baseball glove and then threw up twice afterwards, should I be worried.
Yes it's worrying because Xena ate parts of a baseball glove. That will upset her stomach, and it could cause a blockage. I'm not sure if there are more parts in her stomach. I think it's best you get her checked out by a vet immediately to make sure everything is ok. Best of luck.

Some other pieces of the glove could actually be still inside her gastrointestinal system and cause obstructions or quite dangerous gastroenteritis. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is immediately essential to confirm/rule out these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics and possibly further investigations (like abdominal imaging as ultrasound or radiographs) may be needed.
