I took my coclatiel into the vet a couple days ago to get his wings clipped for the very first time. They clipped the first four primary feathers. I know that he can still sort of fly, but can't get lift. However, I don't think my bird knows that. What are some safe ways to get him to learn that je cannot fly the same way he used to? Could I please get a couple different methods? Thank you.

Have him perch on your finger, then gently place a thumb on his feet to hold him. Allow him to flap as he is being held on your hand. This may show him he doesn't have enough lift to takeoff. You can also hold him over the bed and allow him to gently fly/flutter down onto it a few times. This may also show him he can only fly downwards.
