My cat vomits daily and after eating. When should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | unspayed | 3 lbs

Hi. My 18 month DLH has started vomiting a lot- almost daily. It started out as fur balls a couple of weeks ago but now seems to be actual vomit. When shes sick I dont feed her for a day but then everytime she eats she throws up again. We are having trouble with fleas at the moment but I treat her every 4 weeks and bathe her. Ive also wormed her but that hasnt seemed to help. She doesnt look like shes lost weight but its hard to tell as shes a DML. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Poor Willow! It's certainly not normal that she is vomiting almost daily, and she could have something seriously wrong with her such as a foreign body causing the vomiting. It could also be something like inflammatory bowel disease. Given that she is vomiting daily, she should see a vet as soon as possible as I would be concerned she has lost weight. The vet will likely want to do a physical exam, blood tests, and urinalysis as a start to try to diagnose what is causing the vomiting. Further testing may be needed depending on the findings of the vet's initial tests. Once a diagnose is found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you. Please take her into a vet immediately. I hope this helps!
