Why is my female hamster's bottom sticky with smelly black stuff?

My female hamster has smelly, sticky blackish stuff around her bottom and her vagina. What is it and how do I treat it. I've been given antibiotics but they don't seem to have done anything. I'm addament I can't put her down. Please help! Pet's info: Small Animal | Unknown - Small Animal | Female

Hi, This could either be coming from her digestive system (i.e. diarrhea ) or from reproductive system (uterus and vagina). This needs to be diagnosed correctly. One option is that she has a pyometra (infection of the uterus). In this case she would need surgery same as done with larger animals. In any case, you need to take her to the vet ASAP. Regards
