What deworming medicine and how often should I deworm my dog?

My Labrador dog is only 3 years old .The weight is around 30 Kg.Which medicine should be given for dewarming.How many times should I give?

Great question! Deworming medications I recommend include Panacur and Drontal. You can get them from your vet's office. If Appu hasn't been dewormed in a while I would give him one treatment now, and then another in two weeks. The first treatment will kill the adults already present while the second in two weeks kills the worms that had not yet hatched at the time of the first deworming treatment. After that, he should be dewormed every three months. Good luck, I hope this helps!

It's a three day course of treatment, and Bella will need another course of treatment two weeks after the first to kill all the worms. I'm wondering if you mean Zo has worms. The best thing to buy him is a deworming treatment called Panacur. It kills roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. You can get it at your vet's office. He will need a second deworming treatment two weeks after the first to kill all the worms. The first treatment kills the adults present while the second one kills the ones that had not yet hatched from eggs at the time of the first treatment. He should then be deworming monthly until six months of age, and then every three months thereafter. I hope this helps!

I can certainly understand being frustrated with this problem! Drontal, in my experience, is a great deworming treatment, and it often takes at least two treatments to kill all the worms. That's because the first treatment kills the adult worms already present, and the second kills the ones who had not yet hatched at the time of the first treatment. Preventing worms does require treatment with a deworming medication every three months, and each dog in the house should be treated to prevent reinfection. I would recommend giving all the dogs in your home Drontal, and giving them this treatment every three months. You can also give them Panacur instead of Drontal, it's a good deworming treatment that works well in my experience.

You can use the Drontal Plus to deworm him now. It is an excellent deworming tablet and you only have to give him one tablet now. You should given him another deworming tablet in a month, and then he should be dewormed every three months thereafter.

Is deworming done every month
Deworm of puppies should be done at two, four, six and eight weeks of age. Repeat deworming at 12 and 16 weeks of age. After this, a monthly heartworm preventative should prevent infection of the most common intestinal parasites (hookworm, round worm, whipworm). A separate medication for tape worm may be indicated in some cases. If no monthly prevention is offered, adult dogs should be given a broad spectrum dewormer every 3 months.

I would recommend looking for a pyrantel pamoate product labeled for use in a 1 month old puppy. This dewormer only treats roundworms and hookworms, so if you are suspicious of other types of parasites, a vet should perform a fecal exam to determine which parasites are present.

A drontal tablet will cover interna worms including tapeworms. The frequency of dewormer dogs depends on symptoms and their environment. Most monthly heartworm prevention cover intestinal parasites except tapeworms. Tapeworms are spread through ingestion if a flea, so they can be reinfected and need to be dewormer often if there is no flea control

It sounds like Chintu has intestinal worms. To treat this requires a deworming treatment, which you can get over the counter. I recommend Panacur. I would give both Chintu and your Golden the Panacur, as Chintu can pass the worms to him. It's lovely of you to look after Chintu. Give them both the deworming treatment as soon as possible, then follow up with another treatment two weeks after the first. After that, they should both receive a deworming treatment every three months :-)

How often should we get deworming done for a 5 year old lab ?
That is a good question. Usually once yearly during Jenny's physical exam a fecal is done. They will look under the microscope to see if there are worm eggs or other parasites. Also I recommend checking for parasites should she have diarrhea and blood and or mucus in the stool. If they find parasite eggs they will prescribe the correct medication. I generally do not deworm without knowing if they have intestinal parasites and which ones as there are several different deworm medications that are used for different types of parasites. Giving monthly heartworm medication will help control intestinal parasites also. Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for Jenny.
