My dog just got neutered. Is ear scratching with a cone too much?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Male | neutered | 7 months and 25 days old | 6.4 lbs

Oliver just got neutered today, and I was wondering if him using his back leg to try to scratch his ear with a rapid kicking motion (he has a cone on) is too much movement. Our vet said that he shouldnt be active, but I didnt think to ask if scratching counts as being too active.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! That most likely would be fine. If you do see him doing it try to tell him not to do it just to be extra cautious though this is likely just fine and should not result in incision issues. Good luck and have a good night!
