My 11-year-old cat is drowsy and hiding; vet found nothing. What now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 12 years old

Hi, I'm very concerned about my 11-year old female cat. From this morning on she is inactive and drowsy, trying to hide away in a remote warm spot, such as under radiator. Although she ate when I offered her favorite food. We rushed to the vet, but he didn't find anything. Temperature was 38.5, no abdominal tenderness, no murmurs in the lungs. We are at home now, but I'm still very nervous. Please advise me what I can do and how dangerous it could be.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. If blood work was not performed then I would definitely recommend this. If the blood test comes back normal or did come back normal and she is still having issues, I would recommend further diagnostics such as x-rays and / or an abdominal ultrasound. I hope Martha gets better soon! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further!
