Is it okay to delay neutering my 8-month-old male Shiba Inu?

Question

I have an 8 month old Shiba Inu with no aggression or territorial issues. I don’t want to neuter him because I don’t see the need to yet but wanted an experts opinion on if I should? Thanks! Pet's info: Dog | Shiba Inu | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 6 days old | 20 lbs

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There is not rush to neuter male dogs. As long as he doesn't have behavioral problems and isn't marking it is fine to wait. Neutering does helps with an enlarged prostate, prostatitis and prostatic abscesses that can occur with older age. Just as an aside, most dogs do not reach social or bahavioral maturity until 2-3 years of age, so behaviors Nabi have now may change. I hope this helps!
