My dog's paw has a swollen blister not going down. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 3 years and 4 months old | 4.5 lbs

Above my dogs right front paw he has (what looks like) a blister that is very swollen around it and doesn’t seem to be going down. I have pictures if it is possible to send them over.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and best wishes!
