My dog has pancreatitis symptoms. Is Baytril suitable, and for pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Havanese | Female | spayed | 6 years old | 22 lbs

I am very low income. My female dog has had pancreitis before and is STARTING to have same symptoms. I brought her to a low cost clinic today. They said they are not set for serious sicknesses and were not sure what to give her. They did NO labwork. But gave me Baytril. Is Baytril an antibiotic suitable IF IT IS PANCREITIS? Last time she had pancreitis was prescribed some antibiotic & also Tramadol for pain. I have some tramadol left but don't know dosage they gave for my 22 lb. dog.

Please contact the original prescribing clinic fir advice on previous dosage, we are mot in a position to prescribe medication on a public forum. Pancreatitis is an inflammatory condition so pain relief, fluids and antinausea medications are vital, oral medication is ok if vomiting can be controlled, if nit injectable and intravenous treatment is required. An ultra low fat diet is very important long term to reduce the severity and long term complications and scarring
