My cat has bald spots around his eyes. Is it a skin infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | neutered | 3 years and 10 months old | 14 lbs

My handsome 4yr old Siamese has developed bald spots around both of his beautiful baby blue eyes. He also seem to scan the room a little when walking toward him (like he can’t see) but I know he can see, at least up close, for treats and games etc. I just gave him oral worming medication. Worried it could be something else? Thought I’d check with you before the vet? A fungus maybe?? What do you think?? Thanks! Baby Blues

The pictures look like Rico may have a skin infection. This could be bacterial or fungal. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. As this is so close to his eye topical therapy would unlikely be safe, and oral medication will likely be necessary. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
