My dog ate gardenia, is vomiting/shaking. Does she need emergency vet?

Dog ate part of my gardenia plant. Has been vomiting, has diarrhea , shakes on and off, and seems very uncomfortable. Should I take her to emergency vet?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Gardenia is toxic to dogs and it can result in the same signs that you describe. It can certainly cause vomiting and diarrhea and she could be shaking from dehydration for instance. All these symptoms could be making Sammy uncomfortable. For this reason, I do think that Sammy should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. You may take her to your local emergency clinic tonight. They would be able to treat her symptomatically and check for dehydration and treat her accordingly. They could consider contacting the ASPCA poison control center for any updated recommendations based on the most recent data on this toxicity in dogs. Good luck and have a good night!
