My leopard gecko isn't growing. Why is she so small for her age?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My leopard gekko hasn't grown in a year I got her from a family member and when I got her she didn't have a heat pad and I'm sure she went without one for few months.. now she has a heating pad and yummy food I watch her and make sure she eats... She doesn't use the hide I provided... I'm worried about parasites and I don't have the money to go to a vet to get her checked... I don't know what to do and it breaks my heart... She's over a year and 6months she's way to tiny for her age..

Her growth was likely stunted by poor nutrition and a poor environment. With proper care and feeding, she may "catch up" but be prepared for the possibility that she may not. Do not worry if she doesn't use the hide. She may be comfortable enough in her surroundings to be out in plain sight. An adult female leo will be around 8-9 inches and weigh 50-80 grams. When you can, have her examined by your veterinarian and submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites. As long as she is eating and behaving normally now, there is no cause for concern.
