My puppy has a red donut-shaped lump on his belly. What is it?

One small--1/4"--donut shaped, red place on belly of 10 mo. old beagle/hound mix. He's been on flea/tick and worm med since 2 months...interrupted in Dec due to holidays. The spot is puffy around, and depressed in the very center. Not causing pain apparently. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 9 months and 20 days old | 70 lbs

Young dogs get benign tumors called histiocytomas. These usually grow quickly, but the immune system will typically resolve the problem within a month or so. However, if the lump is still there in a month or so then I would be a good idea to have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
