Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 13 years and 5 months old | 10 lbs
My dog has recently died of pacreatitis, she died overnight after being admitted the previous evening. She was seen 5 hours prior to being admitted but the vet did not seem unduly concerned then. She deteriorated and struggled to walk when I took her back to see the vet, she was then admitted, given fluids, pain relief and anti spasm medication. I am shocked and devastated that she left our world so abruptly and died alone. Would she have suffered at the end?

First, I am so sorry for your loss of Poppy. Pancreatitis can be a very painful and often devastating disease within aggressive and immediate treatment. Unfortunately the loss of fluids from vomiting and diarrhea can result in shock. I am hopeful that the anti spasm medication the vet gave would have provided her some pain relief before she passed. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.
