My dog has black dots on his stomach and penis, are they blackheads?

my dog has been struggling with fleas i looked at his stomach and notice he has a lot of black dots on it, his penis is full of them they look like blackheads all over his penis and chest area

These are comedones (black heads) and usually due to an underlying metabolic disease or a skin infection possibly caused by mites. Your veterinarian will be able to perform blood work as well as a skin scrape and cytology to check for any of these diseases.

    Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The black heads you describe can be caused by bacterial or fungal skin infections, mites or underlying hormonal imbalances. The likelihood varies with age, and older animals tend to be somewhat more susceptible to hormonal imbalances. I recommend having Baby seen by a vet as soon as possible. They can take a small skin sample and run blood work to rule out the conditions above. You can also get Baby an E-collar or "cone" to prevent her from licking or chewing at the area until she is seen.

Those black spots look like comedones (aka: blackheads). I suggest you use this shampoo that contains benzoyl peroxide. Lather the affected areas (no need to do the whole dog), let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then rinse throughly. Do this every 2-3 days until they are gone. My dog has small holes on his back by his tail and little black dots that you can squeeze out of his skin when I get the pieces out they are red to black in color and don’t look like a bug im super worried about what it is but can’t afford a vet
It sounds like your dog has a skin infection. Usually infections are characterized by small red pustules full of pus. But sometimes they can look like whiteheads or blackheads, also known as comedones. Your dog will likely need a medicated shampoo to help flush out his hair follicles that have become clogged and often times need antibiotics to help the infection cleared up. There is a chance as well that this may not be an infection but maybe small cysts that are present. If this is the case usually no treatment is needed. My dog has black dots around his penis and i dont know if they are meant to be there?
That is nothing serious and is usually due to the presence of comedones (blackheads). It is not usually related to any disease itself. Usually normal cleaning and any product with Benzoyl peroxide inside can get easily get rid of them (it is not necessary though). What are the lil black spots on dogs belly’s? They look like black heads. Can dogs get those if so how to get rid of them?
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. From what you are describing these sound like comedones, or clogged pores. A comedone is similar to a pimple, in that it is a collection of oily material in a pore. It is black because of exposure to oxygen and accumulation of debris. Comedones may be a sign of a skin issue such as mites, or over-secretion of oils, but they can also be signs of an underlying hormonal disease such as Cushing's disease. As long as they are not irritating to your dog, there is no need to try to get rid of them. Comedones may be reduced by use of benzoyl peroxide shampoos, which have “follicular flushing action,” the ability to go down inside pores and hair follicles and remove foreign material. I recommend contacting your regular veterinarian who may recommend a medicated shampoo, and/or may recommend that your dog be seen for an exam and bloodwork to evaluate for any underlying diseases that may be related to his/her comedones. My dog has these little black dots on his stomach. It looks like black heads and I can scratch gently and some of them come off. So how do I get rid of them? And why do dogs get black heads
This is usually due to the skin being dirty and having a mild bacterial infection. These black dots can take a while to remove, but it is possible with regular cleaning. I recommend getting a medicated shampoo from the pet store and cleaning his belly once a day until they are gone. When cleaning, you can gently scrub the skin with a cloth, but do not scrub hard, or this can make the issue worse. I recommend gently scrubbing the area for 10 minutes each day. With daily cleanings, this should clear-up within two weeks. I hope that helps and all is well with the dog.

I don't know why my dog tummy skin suddenly turn like this, when I squeeze the black spot, there is something that look like black head came out.
Dogs can get blocked pores and blackheads, or what we medically call comedones These typically can be treated with a benzoyl peroxide based shampoo (i.e. Duoxo shampoos). In most situations these are benign, but it is always a good idea to have your vet do a general health exam on your pet to ensure no other underlying disease processes are occurring as well. Pets with hypothyroidism can be prone to this condition. Your vet can also provide an appropriate shampoo to help keep pores healthy. Adding an omega 3 fatty acid for pets can also help improve skin health. Best of luck.

I just noticed small brown spots on my dog's stomach around his genital area. He does not have a flea infestations and never has any skin issues in the past. He is about 4 years old. Any ideas about what this could be?
It could be simple dirt/grime or blackheads (comedones). Either can be resolved by daily washing with a gentle soap or cleanser. See your veterinarian if the area becomes red, inflamed, causes discomfort or spreads.

Hi and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! From the picture, these black dots on Pokey's abdomen appear to me like comedones or better known as 'black heads'. You can try using a dog friendly shampoo than is Benzoyl peroxide based such as Vetoquinol Benzoyl-Plus Shampoo for Dogs and Cats. You can get this online or through your veterinarian. What are the black dots on my dog's private part? They're bunpy, like blackheads, and can be easily pulled off. But should i be worried? What are they? My dog is a Yorkshire terrier - Jack Russell mix, if that helps.

Hello. These are comedones, essentially black heads, & they are commonly associated with dogs that have allergies. You can try bathing CJ in a benzoyl peroxide product ( shampoo or gel ) for its follicle flushing properties. Bathe weekly & make sure you leave the shampoo on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing.
