My rabbit hasn't eaten for days but seems fine. Is it an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered | 11 months and 14 days old

My rabbit has gone off his food the last 3 days and today has eaten barely anything. His droppings are normal, his behaviour hasn’t changed and he doesn’t look stressed or depressed but usually he’s always wanting food. Is this something to worry about? Does he need urgent help?

Hi and thank you for your question, Whenever a rabbit stops eating this causes a cascade of physiological effects that acts like a vicious cycle. I would therefore recommend that you take Buttons to the vet ASAP and not wait till he really deteriorates. Many of these cases can be solved by simple things like fluid therapy and pain control, but a diagnosis for the initial cause is important. Regards
