My dog is weak, shaking, and not moving. What should I do now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 7 years and 4 months old | 25 lbs

My dog has is not acting himself, he has barely moved in the past 2 days, he sometimes shakes when he is standing (he is not crying). I let him eat some grass thinking that I would make him throw up and it would help, but he was not throw it up yet.

I am sorry to hear that Teddy isn't feeling well. The shaking has me concerned about pain, especially back pain, (they do not always cry when painful), fever, or extreme weakness. Since this has already gone on for more than 24 hours without any improvment, then I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. After a thorough examination they will likely have an idea as to what could be causing his symptoms and will have a recommendation for you. This may involve additional testing such as blood work or an x-ray. I worry that if he isn't seen today that he could become much worse overnight tonight. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.
