I am so sorry that Jojo is experiencing these issues. 4 weeks old is pretty young to be without mom, but it can be done. There are many different possiblitilies that can be going on. Lice, mites, fleas, or ticks are all likely culprits causing problems to the skin. However, what you describe also has me concerned about a skin infection. Puppies can also get a significant illness called juvenile celluitis or also known as puppy strangles. This can manifest in the symptoms that you describe as well. I think it is imperative that she be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Not only to address her skin issues which seem significant, but without being able to still nurse and get antibodies from mama at 4 weeks old she needs to start her vaccinations. Otherwise she is unprotected. I would hightly encourage you to have her seen by a veterinarian soon as puppies her age can decompensate quickly with infections. Best of luck and I hope she improves quickly. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
