Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | neutered | 10 lbs
My 11 year old Persian likely has a brain tumor. The vet realized his eyes are working but he is completely blind. It’s been noticeable over a 3-4 week span but he thought it was an eye infection (which likely was an eye injury resulting from blindness). Now, over the last week, he staggers, misses jumps, falls over. His X-ray and blood work was good. I am exploring appts for evaluating the tumor. Is there anyway to predict quality of life if he has surgery? Can he regain stability/mobility?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Andy! Be sure that your Vet checked Andy's blood pressure as hypertension is a common reason for vision loss in cats. Then I would seek a neurology consult at a Veterinary School or Specialty hospital. They will do a complete neurological exam and may also have you see a Veterinary ophthalmologist. Once they localize Andy's lesion they will then likely recommend a CT or MRI. Once they confirm a brain tumor they can discuss the prognosis if it can be removed. I hope this helps and I wish Andy the best!
