Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed

My cat is very gassy. I have tried changing her food but no luck. It doesnt seem to be uncomfortable for her, she is still active. No bloating or diarrhea, just gas. Any suggestions?

I would recommend a Rx hypoallergenic diet, because they are super easily digestible and reduce the amount of work the body has to put out to digest the food. Also a daily probiotic would be helpful to promote healthy intestinal flora. Hypoallergenic diets- RX royal canin hypoallergenic hp, Hill's Z/D, Royal canin sensitive digestion Probiotic- Fortiflora (available online), Culturelle (over the counter) I hope this helps. Best wishes with your pet Nala. Take care.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Regardless of the quality of the food, sometimes the best food is not always the best choice for the cat and may not agree with the cat's digestive tract. Regardless of the quality, I would still recommend switching to not a 'better' food but a 'different' food such as Science Diet or Royal Canin and see if a new food or different formula makes a difference. I would also consider adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora, which can be found online or at your local Petco. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
