Are eucalyptus branches and leaves toxic for my lovebird to use?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed

I have a love bird and the most abundant plant available for perches and leaves is gums./eucalyptus. I just wanted to be sure that they arent toxic.

Hi and thank you for your question, You will find all sorts of opinions about this. In general, eucalyptus can be used for perches but avoid the leaves and fruit. Edible fruit trees or Hibiscus branches are better. Regards
