My cat threw up brown liquid with blood. Should I go to the vet?

our cat vomited brown liquid with blood in it. what should we do? we do not have a vet.

I am sorry matcha is not feeling well. I would recommend trying to find a veterinarian and take him in as soon as possible. Vomiting with blood can happen secondary to gastric upset , toxins and even foreign material. It is best he gets looked to determine the cause and provide proper treatment. In the mean time I would offer good and a bland diet to help calm his stomach. I hope that helps

    Hi there! Thanks for letting us take care of you today! There may be evidence of blood in the vomit. When there is evidence of blood in the vomit, that raises concern for things like a gastrointestinal ulcer, gastrointestinal tumor, severe gastroenteritis, foreign body ingestion, among other possibilities. Some tests that are usually run include bloodwork (CBC and chemistry panel +/- coagulation profile) and abdominal ultrasound. Thoracic/cervical radiographs may follow. Further diagnostics will be based on the findings up to that point. Treatment will be based on findings. Unfortunately, this cannot be treated at home and will require a visit to your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be fine with Snowflake!

    Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. First of all, you should separate the new kittens from your other cats as he may carry viral diseases or worms that can be dangerous to your cats. Presence of blood in stools and vomiting can be related to worms infestation but it also could be a sign of gastrointestinal infection. Please, offer Kai small portions of good quality food (kitten food or cooked lean meat) and plenty of water to drink. The worming medication should be repeated in 2 weeks time. However, if Kai continues to vomit and pass diarrhoea with blood, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment.

    Any time there is blood in the vomit or stool it is recommend to see a vet. As a kitten, he may have eaten something that is upsetting his stomach or it may be an infection or related to his food if there were changes. There is nothing safe for cats to take over the counter to help, so getting him seen will provide him the best care.
