Why is my male kitten leaking fluid from his anus? Is it anal glands or spray?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Male | neutered | 5 months and 3 days old | 8.818 lbs

Why my male kitten has some kind of pee from his anus. It was when he sat on my bed there will leave some trace which is liquid from his anus. He is not neutered yet. Is this has to do with him start spray around the house?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The most common fluid leaked from the anus is anal gland fluid. It can leak out when the glands are full or if something scares the cat, they can express them. The anal glands normally are expressed during defecation. I would have the anal glands checked by your Vet. If he is starting to spray around the house I would have him neutered. I hope this helps and I wish you the best!
