What causes milky white eye discharge in chickens and how to treat?

I have a chicken that is having milky white discharge from one eye. I have separated her and am bathing it intermittently with weak salty water solution. Wondering if there are any drops I should get or something else I can do. She is also in 1st moult ( ~18mths old)

If the discharge permeating from the eye is thick and milky, there is likely an active infection in or around the eye. This can also be indicative of a primary problem in the upper respiratory tract. It was definitely a good idea to separate her from the flock, but use of a weak salty water solution may not be enough. You may be able to obtain something over the counter at a farming supply store, but its possible you may require something that is prescription only to get matters under control. Something that has an antibiotic and/or steroid in it may be needed.
