Possible Hyperadrenocorticism? My Vet is not sure if he has it. I think that I understand what it is but do not know how to proceed. My little guy is 10 & 1/2 yrs old and in three months has gained one pound. He is not eating well but we can get a full days of food into him. He is not eating his favorite treats like carrots and biscuits much at all when he usually gulps them down. He drinks an increased amount of water but urine output is pretty normal. He sleeps a lot. Pooping regular.

Hyperadrenocortisism is definitively diagnosed by a blood test, so that would be the next step for investigating this further. Some of what you described fits with this disease, but the fact that he is eating less makes me less inclined to believe it's Cushing's. However, without me being able to examine Mcgee and understand his medical history in more depth, I cannot comment much more. I reccomend you continue to work with your vet to find out the exact cause of is recent problems. Once diagnosed, treatment options can be discussed. I hope that helps and Mcgee gets better soon.
