Pet's info: Dog | Dalmatian | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 5 months old | 75 lbs
My Dalmatian appears to have eye allergies. A couple times a year he closes his eyes entirely for days at a time. The inner eye lid is red but it always clears on its own. What might be the cause?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Apollo! Closing the eyes is a sign of ocular pain. Common causes are uveitis (inflammation with in the eye from primary eye disease or systemic disease), corneal ulcers, allergies, glaucoma or foreign material (like dust) in the eyes. If it clears up on it;s own it likely glaucoma or corneal ulcers. I think uveitis, allergies or foreign material in the eye are the most likely causes. I hope this helps and I hope Apollo feels better soon!
