My friends dog is appearing to be not in good health. Her husband and herself are trying to save money and dont have a lot for the vet. Today theur dog Goose had been chewing on something that was stuck to the rug. Her hudband said it looked a lot like gum but it wasnt. More like a marshmallow. The color was white. The dog has been laying around since then. Its been about 2 hours should we be concerned?

I would be suspicious of gum causing this. Gum can contain an artificial sweetener known as xylitol that can artificially lower the blood sugar in dogs and cause liver damage. In these cases, it's recommended to give the dog an IV glucose solution and monitoring for 24 hours. Unfortunately, this requires a visit to the vet. Without knowing more, I am just guessing that this is gum. It seems like some sort of poisoning is possible though, so I think either way the best thing to do is take Goose to a vet as soon as possible, or he could have life-threatening complications. I hope that helps and Goose gets better soon.
