Why does my dog yelp when touched and have stiff legs when waking?

5.5yr old female, small JRT yelps at times when we touch her, seems to have stiffness in legs when waking, yet when walking, behaves completely normally...should I worry? Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | spayed | 5 years and 7 months old | 12 lbs

Poor Peanut. She could have some early onset on arthritis. I would try to start her on a joint supplement and omega 3 fatty acids. I really like either dasuquin or flexadin UC-II for joint supplements. I like veteriscience's Omega 3 6 9 for omega 3 FAs. If she seems really stiff, you may want your vet to take a look at her to see if she would be a candidate for an anti-inflammatory even if it is just on an as needed basis. I do not recommend to give any human pain meds as most are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps!
