My dog's losing hair in patches and has leathery skin. What's wrong?

She is loosing ber hair in patches and under her skin is leathery. Also both armpits are leathery. She is having no pain. Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | spayed | 10 years and 11 months old | 35 lbs

Poor girl. I would highly recommend having her tested for demodexx mites, hypothyroidism, and a fungal infection. Either of these can cause these symptoms, but they can also all be treated with relatively good success. Best of luck to you at the vet. Best wishes and take care.
