Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Male | neutered | 15 years and 10 months old | 13 lbs
A year ago my 16 yr old bichon was euthanized after a diagnosis of intestinal cancer. Our second bichon, also 16, not related to the first fog, was just diagnosed with the same cancer. I’ve read that intestinal cancer isn’t very common in dogs—if that’s accurate, I’m wondering what causes it. Seems unusual that both dogs were diagnosed with the same cancer.

I'm very sorry to hear that, intestinal cancer is not that uncommon in dogs and there might be a genetic factor in their case, it's very hard to know. it could also be related to the food or to other environmental factors or it could just be a very unfortunate coincidence.
