Dog's foot swelled from plastic. Can I wait or go to emergency vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

My dog Cece got her foot stuck around some plastic and I don’t know for how long. We cut the plastic off and her foot swelled up. Do I need to take her emergency or can she wait until tomorrow morning to have her seen by our vet?

From the photo this doesn’t look too severe. You can wait until tomorrow If you can massage her leg for 15-20 minutes to get the circulation going. Having her walk around will also help decrease the pain and swelling. I would continue the massage and walks until the foot is back to normal. This looks like it will improve quickly but if it’s still swollen in the morning please take her in for an exam.
